Holiday Spirit

As I sit here in my rocking chair, computer perched on my lap, this is my view of the living room.

(I can't believe this time next year I'll be stitching another person's name on that fourth stocking!)

And if I were to turn around, directly behind me it looks like this.

What a great feeling.  I know some people have been fussing about how people are starting Christmas too early and skipping Thanksgiving all together.  I'll be honest, I've never put up the tree before Thanksgiving.  But for me, unfortunately, Turkey Day is just that- a day to eat turkey.  Sure I'm thankful.  Sure I've played the game of going around the table and saying what you are thankful for before beginning to eat.  BUUUUUUUUUUT.....the day it self has never been a big deal to me.

This year though, I feel like it's a holiday.  Yes, the Christmas tree is up but it evokes such a feeling of joy and peace and all those warm fuzzies that even Thanksgiving seems extra special now.  I'm ready.  I'm ready for a good holiday meal with my family.

Anyway, that's why I went a head and put up the tree.  I waited until nap time to minimize breakage, turned on the tv to holiday music and got to decorating.  I would have really liked to enjoy a hot beverage while I toiled away, but it was 78 degrees outside.  This made it 81 degrees in the house and Cody vetoed the idea of turning on the a/c at all, much less to blast it down to 60 just to keep in the spirit of things.  So I got a little sweaty, big deal.  We can just pretend there was a roaring fire in the fire place and that's what was heating me up.

Now I just need to wrap up Luke's presents and we'll be all set!

So beautiful! Your house always amazes me. It is gorgeous. We're getting our tree tonight (after we go out on a date, out for dinner BY OURSELVES).

I'm visiting from the Pleated Poppy. Your tree is beautiful! I'm also in Texas and we had really warm weather up until Thanksgiving and now it finally feels like winter/Christmas. Happy Holidays!
